PREMIERES
Every evening, acclaimed films are premiered, presented by their directors and cast. Screenings are held at the Gare du Midi, in the iconic 1,200-seat Atalaya theatre.
GAZTERIA
What can youth do ? This is the question that the gazteria (“youth” in basque language) section will ask the 6 guests of honor of the festival, proposing them to answer with a film from the history of cinema, taken from their personal pantheon.
SPECIAL SCREENINGS
This year, the Special Screenings are organized around four themes that each, in their own way, highlight stories of youth: thrillers and offbeat films in Zoroa, rediscoveries of cinematic heritage, a focus on Basque culture and talent, and portraits of youth in its broadest sense. From genre films to documentaries, from restored classics to world premieres, this eclectic and generous program invites audiences to see the world through fresh eyes.
LES NOUVELLES VAGUES DU MONDE
Les Nouvelles Vagues du monde, the new section of the Biarritz Film Festival – NOUVELLES VAGUES, conceived as a laboratory for emerging perspectives, will present a unique panorama of award-winning young filmmakers, bringing together five international talents revealed at major film festivals. Each filmmaker will present a film that embodies the cinematic renewal of their respective countries, as well as the new artistic forms currently shaping world cinema.
