Would You Have Sex With An Arab ?

Yolande Zauberman

2011 85 min French, Hebrew, English, Arabic

Over the course of a night between Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, young Jewish and Arab Israelis dance, laugh, and meet one another. When asked a simple question — “Would you have a relationship with someone from the other community?” — their answers reveal hesitation. Beneath the celebration and the appearance of freedom emerge invisible boundaries, desire, and the tensions of a society divided yet intertwined.

Yolande Zauberman

One of the most distinctive filmmakers and documentary directors in French cinema, Yolande Zauberman has spent more than three decades exploring the hidden corners of our societies. Acclaimed from her very first film, Classified People, and later selected for the Cannes Film Festival with Caste Criminelle, she has gone on to create major works such as M, which won the César Award for Best Documentary in 2019, and La Belle de Gaza. Through her bold and uncompromising cinema, she continues to challenge taboos and give voice to those who are too often unheard.
