San Sebastian, 1978. The workers at a water meter factory hold an assembly to discuss a strike, which ultimately fails. Disappointed, the most nonconformist workers turn their aspirations for radical transformation toward more intimate spheres. Some leave the factory to join an isolated community in the mountains, where dozens of young people have embarked on an intense collective quest for cathartic experiences.

Irati Gorostidi (Eguesibar, 1988) is a Basque filmmaker whose works, including Euritan (2017), Unicornio (2021), San Simón (2022) and Contadores (2022, Cannes Critics’ Week), have screened at numerous festivals. With her debut feature, Aro berria, she further explores the universe introduced in Contadores. The project was selected for Ikusmira Berriak 2022 under the title Anekumen.
