INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION

Eight films. Eight centers of resistance. Curated by Lili Hinstin, Eduardo Carretié, and Emmanuel Mayemba, these works form a common body: one of youth that no longer waits for its place but claims it, invents it, disrupts it. From Iran to Japan, from Italy to Sweden, these films share the same tension – of young bodies and minds in conflict with norms, expectations, and assigned roles.

PREMIERES

Every evening, acclaimed films are premiered, presented by their directors and cast. Screenings are held at the Gare du Midi, in the iconic 1,200-seat Atalaya theatre.

GAZTERIA

What can youth do ? This is the question that the gazteria (“youth” in basque language) section will ask the 6 guests of honor of the festival, proposing them to answer with a film from the history of cinema, taken from their personal pantheon.

THE STUDENTS ARE TALKING TO YOU

From Tokyo to Lyon, passing by Beirut, to Jos in Nigeria and San Sebastian, 5 students from 5 international film schools have chosen a film that they feel represents the youth of their country.

SPECIAL SCREENINGS

This year, the Special Screenings are organized around four themes that each, in their own way, highlight stories of youth: thrillers and offbeat films in Zoroa, rediscoveries of cinematic heritage, a focus on Basque culture and talent, and portraits of youth in its broadest sense. From genre films to documentaries, from restored classics to world premieres, this eclectic and generous program invites audiences to see the world through fresh eyes.
