Summer, 1996. In a small fishing village in Brazil’s northeastern region, Tamara is enjoying her final weeks before leaving for university in Brasília. One day, she hears whispers about a local girl known only as “Heartless.” As the summer unfolds, Tamara finds herself increasingly drawn to this mysterious teenager.

The Fluminense Federal University was created in Niterói, in 1960, and its film school, in 1969, together with the opening of the Cine Arte UFF, the university movie theater. It is currently the second oldest cinema degree course in operation in Brazil. With theoretical and practical training, UFF trained some of the main film professionals working in Brazil. UFF students must produce a short film at the end of their course and many of them have been awarded prizes at national and international festivals.
