1899. On a stormy night, Aimée, a young republican schoolteacher, arrives in a snowbound hamlet deep in the French Alps. Met with suspicion by the locals, she remains determined to bring enlightenment to their shadowy beliefs. As she settles into village life, a strange sensual pull begins to take hold.
With a film that’s both precise and unsettling, Louise Hémon crafts a near-fantastical atmosphere. Through the figure of the “dangerous woman,” she challenges our perception of reality itself.
