Following the sudden death of her mother, young Alysia is uprooted by her gay, single father Steve in San Francisco during the 1970’s and 1980’s. Based on Alysia Abbott’s best-selling memoir, Fairyland chronicles this father daughter relationship as it evolves from their early days in San Francisco during the era of post hippy decadence, to the reactionary times of the Reagan presidency, and eventually to their struggles and loss during the AIDS crisis.

Andrew Durham
A graduate of the USC School of Cinema and Television, Andrew Durham has worked under such directors as. He produced Sofia Coppola’s first short film, Lick The Star, and Coppola’s television series, Hi-Octane. Fairyland is Durham’s first feature film as a writer/director.
