Leonardo leaves Italy to study abroad. Initially enrolled in a business program in London, he quickly abandons it and moves to Siena. Unable to conform to academic expectations, he isolates himself and ends up studying alone, on his own terms.
Much like its eccentric, unpredictable protagonist, the film resists convention. With Nineteen, Giovanni Tortorici delivers an exuberant and unrestrained portrait of youth – an immersion into the boundless world of being nineteen, that paradoxical moment where deep uncertainty meets unwavering conviction.

Born in 1996
Born in Palermo, Giovanni Tortorici is a writer and director. He studied at the film school in Turin and worked as a production assistant on Luca Guadagnino’s We Are Who We Are and Bones and All. Diciannove, his debut feature, was selected for the Orizzonti section at the Venice Film Festival.
