Cédric Klapisch

Cédric Klapisch is a French film director, writer and producer. He was born on September 4, 1961. He attended the Rodin high school in Paris where he met Santiago Amigorena who later became his co-screenwriter on many films, as well as Alexis Galmot. 
He studied literature at Lakannal highscool and went on to study film at Censier Paris 3 University and earned his Master’s degree in film at Saint Denis Paris 8 University.
At 23, he went to New York for two years to attend New York University’s Tisch School of The Arts, where he earned another Master’s degree. 
When he got back to France in 1985, he started out as a best boy on film productions and then directed several shorts including In transit and Ce qui me meut which went on to garner many awards in festivals. His production company was later named after his short Ce qui me meut (1987). 
In 1991, he made his feature film debut with Little Nothing. He went on to make 14 feature films including The Good Old Daze, Family Resemblances, Maybe, Perhaps, Pot Luck, Not For, or Against, Russian Dolls, My Piece of the Pie, Chinese Puzzle, Back to Burgundy, Someone, Somewhere and Rise that came out in 2022.  
He took part in the creation of the TV show Call My Agent! as a showrunner of Season 1 and as a director (Episodes 1 and 3). He has recently been a showrunner on Greek Salad (with Lola Doillon and Antoine Garceau), a Ce qui me Meut/Amazon production which recently released on Prime Video. 
He also directed several documentaries including Aurélie Dupont, l’espace d’un instant (about the prima ballerina), L’élévation (about Renaud Lavillenie, the pole vault overall winner) and Jusqu’au bout du haut (about Lavillenie up until the Rio de Janeiro Olympics). 
He is the co-founder of La Cinetek with Pascale Ferran, Laurent Cantet and Alain Rocca (a VOD streaming platform dedicated to film classics). 
He helped launch the career of several actors (Jean Pierre Darroussin, Catherine Frot, Romain Duris, Audrey Tautou, Cécile de France, Kelly Reilly, Zinedine Soualem, Simon Abkarian, Diane Kruger, Gilles Lellouch, Marine Vatch , Aïssa Maïga, François Civil, Ana Girardot, Camille Cottin, Laure Calamy, Nicolas Maury, Stefi Celma, Marion Barbeau, Megan Northam, Aliocha Schneider…) or helped them gain more popularity.
