Biarritz Film Festival - NOUVELLES VAGUES reveals the official poster for its 2nd edition.
Biarritz Film Festival - NOUVELLES VAGUES reveals the official poster for its 2nd edition, which runs from June 18 to 23, 2024.
These three portraits embody the uniqueness and message of NOUVELLES VAGUES: to shed light on youth, so they can shine light back on us.
Created by Valentine Reinhardt, a multidisciplinary artist, with the assistance of director Manu Cossu, this poster embodies the innovative and visionary spirit characteristic of their respective works. Having both grown up in Biarritz and passionate about surfing, these young artists have combined their talents to create this triptych for the 2nd edition of the Festival.
Trained at the Penninghen School of Graphic Arts in Paris, Valentine Reinhardt won a prize from the Club des Directeurs Artistiques and was shortlisted at the D&AD Awards for her videos for artist Sébastien Tellier. Her artistic universe stands out for its unique graphic style, intense colors and dreamlike quality. She has also collaborated with artists such as Youngr, Gesaffelstein and The Weeknd.
Director Manu Cossu has directed a number of innovative advertising campaigns. He has won awards for his famous clips "Pursuit" by Gesaffelstein and "Houdini" by Dua Lipa. Recent international campaigns have included David Beckham, Karlie Kloss, Pharrell Williams, A$AP Ferg, Playboy Cardi and Nick "Swaggy P" Young.
"The strength of this poster lies in its simplicity. It shows us the strong elements of the festival: Biarritz, youth, and cinema.
The large glasses represent Cinema, and above all, the idea of a new perspective. These posters are in a surrealistic aesthetic, linked to Biarritz and its dreamlike landscapes.
Biarritz is a magical city, with an international outlook, thanks to the artists who have passed through here, such as Picasso, Cocteau and Coco Chanel. It was also the birthplace of surfing in Europe, which brought back travelers from all over the world. These portraits embody this openness to the world.
The Nouvelle Vague is the movement of renewal. Echoing the avant-garde idea promoted by the Festival, we used artificial intelligence to create these posters, which transcend the boundaries of art and technology."
